US Financial Woes And Your Health

Posted September 29th, 2008 by Chris

With the financial meltdown taking place now in the US, it occured to me that many people must be experiencing tremendous stress and worry about their personal finances. At times like this people tend to let themselves go physically which only serves to make things worse.

We have all got to be extremely careful here with this situation because stress causes all sorts of negative reactions in our bodies that can create an environment ripe for disease to step in.

You have to realize that what is happening is out of most people’s control, including yours … all that we can control is our reaction to this dangerous chain of events.

You need to stay focused on your own wellbeing by maintaining your exercise program or starting a regular exercise regimen if you do not currently have one. Please be sure to check with your doctor before starting any exercise program if you have been sedentary for some time or if you have a health condition that sudden exercise could seriously affect. Being physically active is not only good for your body but can also do wonders for your mind.

Here are a few simple ways to get exercise in your daily routine:

1. Take the stairs instead of the escalator

2. Keep walking while on the escalator

3. Walk or Ride a bike instead of walking short distances

4.Park your car further away than you need to or get off the bus one stop early and walk

5. Do some exercise on your lunch hour eg. swimming or walking

Your diet is also critical for your wellbeing. It can help prevent you from getting diseases and generally make you feel better overall. Low fat and low calorie foods are best. Fruit and vegetables are critical for good health. Where possible, try to get organically grown fruits and vegetables so that you avoid ingesting toxic pesticides.

Here are some of the benefits of exercise:

1. Boost your emotional wellbeing – Exercise has been proven to improve mood.

2. Reduced risk of heart disease

3. Reduced risk of Diabetes

4. Improved Memory

5. Improved sleep pattern

6. Improved energy level … and so much more.

Just wanted to draw attention to something that we can all do that will have a positive effect on our bodies and hopefully counteract the stress that we’re all experiencing with the financial meltdown in the US economy and the, as of today, failed bail-out plan.

To Your Health,
Chris
