It has been said that “prevention is better than cure”. No truer words have been spoken, as how many of us would prefer not to ever have a disease or illness than to be diagnosed with one and then have to look to find a cure.

With regard to Type 2 Diabetes, many studies have been conducted that prove that simple changes in lifestyle can aid in the prevention of this horrible, debilitating disease.

Sometimes it is a genetic condition which, obviously we can do nothing about preventing the occurence of it. However, there is a growing body of evidence confirming that your best protection against Type 2 diabetes is to make lifestyle changes. Eating a healthy balanced diet, regular physical activity and nutritional supplements can make all the difference. Being overweight is almost always a precursor to getting Type 2 Diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is an extremely serious condition. If it is not diagnosed early and managed effectively, it can lead to life-threatening complications including heart disease, stroke, blindness and amputation. It is also called the “Silent Killer” sometimes because many times its symptoms go unnoticed.
