8 Year olds on Drugs - FDA approves

Just read an article where they were discussing the news of the FDA now recommending that children be tested for Cholesterol levels as young as age 2. What is this world coming to?

Not only will they be tested but they will also be put on drugs to combat high cholesterol. What’s even worse is that these drugs have never been tested for safety on children.

This is really disheartening. Are the big drug companies not making enough of a killing off adults?

I also received an email yesterday where they were outlining the actual cost of the drugs that are prescribed vs the selling price and in the majority of cases the markup was in the thousands.

Here is an example:

Celebrex: 100 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $130.27
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.60
Percent markup: 21,712%

Is it just me or does everyone not realize how criminal this is? Absolutely ridiculous. This is why the healthcare system in the US is unmanageable and totally out of control. Talk about greed. Really sickening.

Hopefully whatever new administration we get this year will pay serious attention to this escalating problem.

Just my 2 cents for today.

To your health,
Chris
